Aegon Targaryen crossed from Dragonstone with three dragons and two sisters and welded six kingdoms into one, melting the swords of the defeated into the Iron Throne itself. Robert would sit on that chair three centuries later and complain bitterly about how uncomfortable it was, which is possibly the most honest review it ever received.
It was during his conquest that Orys Baratheon carved out Storm's End and founded Robert's house. The dynasty Aegon began ends, in a sense, at the Trident — one man's dragons undone by another man's hammer.
