A generation before the dragon's blood entered the line, Lyonel Baratheon was the terror of the tourney grounds and the loudest laugh in any hall — a giant of a man who took offence like a thunderclap and forgave just as suddenly. When a Targaryen prince jilted his daughter, Lyonel rose in open rebellion over it and had to be talked down.
Read the description of him and then read the descriptions of Robert, and the family resemblance is almost comic: enormous appetite, enormous temper, enormous charm, and a complete inability to let an insult pass. The Laughing Storm is where the Demon of the Trident comes from.
