Hoster Tully brought the riverlands into the rebellion at the moment they were most needed, and charged for it in the only currency that mattered: his daughters. Catelyn married Eddard Stark, Lysa married Jon Arryn, and the alliance was sealed in vows rather than gold.
It worked. The riverlords held the centre, the war was won, and the marriages bound the North, the Vale, and the Trident to the new regime for a generation. It is the clearest example in the whole rebellion of a war being decided by a wedding contract.
